Eight thousand PNB accounts closed in Noida: Account holders were warned by sending notices, no transactions were taking place for three years
Noida News: Punjab National Bank (PNB) has closed eight thousand inactive accounts in Noida. The bank has said that there was no transaction in all these accounts for the last three years. Many times their account holders were warned to keep the account active through notice and other means. All of them were also given time till 31 May. Despite this, the account holders were not paying attention. Due to this PNB has taken this action.
Accounts closed for security reasons
Among the 10 thousand account holders in Punjab National Bank (PNB), there are some whose accounts have not been closed even after being inactive for three years or having zero balances. At the same time, locker or demat accounts are also included in these. Also, accounts opened for customers below 25 years of age to avail the benefits of government schemes have also not been closed. If an account has been frozen on the orders of the court, Income Tax Department or any other statutory body, then those accounts have also been exempted from this. According to bank officials, the decision to close inactive accounts is being taken for security reasons. Sometimes inactive accounts are misused.
Notice sent many times
Lead Bank Manager Indu Jaiswal says that there can be many reasons for an account being inactive. It is possible that the account holder is using more than one account. It is possible that he has died. In such a case, the bank sends notices many times. But even after that, if it is not activated, it is declared inactive. Then if the bank wants, it can also close it.
