Defence Ministry will buy 156 helicopters from HAL for Rs 45,000 crore
As part of promoting Made in India, the Defence Ministry will buy light helicopters worth Rs 45,000 crore from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.
New Delhi : Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. has received an order of Rs 45,000 crore from the Defence Ministry for the purchase of 156 light combat helicopters. HAL has given this information to the stock market regulator SEBI. This is a major initiative as part of the big promotion of Made in India in the defence sector.
The company has said that the Defence Ministry has issued a proposal request for the purchase of 156 LCH. Of these, 90 helicopters are for the Army and 66 helicopters are for the Indian Air Force. LCH is also known as Prachand. It is the first combat helicopter in the world that can take off as well as land at an altitude of 16,400 feet. Due to this quality, it is considered very important for Siachen and Eastern Ladakh.

It is believed that it will be commissioned next year, which will increase the naval capability of the country manifold.
