A father destroyed an entire family in the same house; a love marriage and a financial dispute claimed four lives.
Etah. A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Monday afternoon in the Nagla Premi locality of the Kotwali Nagar police station area of Etah district. Four members of the same family were brutally murdered. The perpetrator of this heinous massacre turned out to be Kamal Singh, the head of the family. On January 19, 2026, at approximately 2:35 p.m., police received information that several people had been murdered in a house in Nagla Premi. Upon receiving the information, the Inspector-in-Charge of Kotwali Nagar, the City Circle Officer, and the Additional Superintendent of Police arrived at the scene with police forces. Ganga Singh Shakya (70), Ratna Devi (40), and Jyoti (23) were found dead at the scene, while Shyama Devi (65) was seriously injured. Shyama Devi was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Given the seriousness of the incident, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Etah, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Aligarh Range, and the Additional Director General of Police, Agra Zone, inspected the scene. The dog squad, field unit, and forensic team collected physical, chemical, and electronic evidence from the scene, and conducted photography and videography. An examination of CCTV cameras installed in the neighborhood revealed that no outsider entered the house at the time of the incident. Cameras at the main gate and back gate only recorded the movements of Kamal Singh and his son, making it clear that the crime occurred inside the house. During the investigation, blood stains were found on Kamal Singh's clothes and shoes, which were confiscated by the field unit. Jyoti's mobile phone revealed that she had been chatting with someone shortly before the incident.
Locals said Jyoti was in a love affair with a young man named Anurag Saxena, and the marriage was a source of conflict at home. The inability to secure four lakh rupees was a source of daily quarrels. During police interrogation, Kamal Singh confessed to his crime, stating that after a dispute with his wife over money, he became enraged and killed his wife, then his daughter, his mother, and finally his father by hitting them with bricks.
After the incident, he washed his hands and feet and fled on his motorcycle. A case has been registered in this regard at Kotwali Nagar police station, FIR No. 35/26, under Section 103(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Based on the evidence, the police have declared Kamal Singh guilty of the quadruple murder. This is considered to be the most horrific family massacre in Etah, which has terrorized the entire area.
