India and Pakistan Agree to Ceasefire After Five Days of Tension
After five days of intense cross-border conflict, India and Pakistan have reached a formal ceasefire agreement, with mediation efforts led by the United States. Top security officials from both countries are set to meet again on May 12 to ensure stability and discuss future strategies.

After five days of intense conflict, India and Pakistan have formally agreed to a ceasefire. The Ministry of External Affairs announced the development during a press conference on Saturday evening. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) initiated a call to his Indian counterpart at 3:35 PM on Saturday to begin talks.
“Both sides have agreed to halt all military actions and firing across land, air, and sea starting at 5:00 PM,” said Vikram Misri.

U.S. Played Mediator Role
U.S. President Donald Trump claimed via a post on his social media account that the ceasefire was achieved through American mediation. He wrote, “After a long night of discussions, India and Pakistan have agreed to a full ceasefire. Congratulations to both nations for using common sense and top-notch intelligence.”
Pakistan Confirms Ceasefire
Shortly after Trump’s post, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed the ceasefire on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote:
“Pakistan and India have agreed to an immediate ceasefire. Pakistan has always pursued peace without compromising regional integrity and sovereignty.”
Next Round of Talks on May 12
According to the Indian Foreign Secretary, the DGMOs of both countries will hold another round of talks on May 12 at 12 PM to review the ceasefire situation and discuss further strategy.
