Gorakhpur News: AIIMS is the last hope for the treatment of serious diseases. When PM Narendra Modi inaugurated AIIMS in Gorakhpur in 2019, people of Purvanchal, Bihar along with friendly nation Nepal hoped that now treatment of complex diseases will be possible in Gorakhpur AIIMS and not in Delhi and Lucknow. But the situation is that AIIMS has also become a referral center for the district hospital and community health center. More than 150 referred cases in the last one month are telling the reality of AIIMS itself.

Patients coming to AIIMS for treatment of serious diseases are being referred from BRD Medical College to Lucknow. Every day six to seven patients are being referred from AIIMS emergency. Within the last 30 days, 160 patients have been referred from AIIMS emergency to BRD and Lucknow. Dhruv Shah (75), a resident of Siwan Bihar, came to AIIMS emergency with his son Vinay Kumar Shah at 8 am on Friday. In the evening, he was suddenly referred saying that there is no empty bed. The son told that his father was unwell for two days. A patient told that there was a problem in getting the report after getting the test done. Questions are also raised about the report. A patient from Bihar told that as soon as they hear about referral, the guards posted in AIIMS start chasing the patients away. From PM Narendra Modi to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, everyone does politics in the name of AIIMS. But this does not happen in AIIMS. The situation in Delhi is quite good.

Doctors are not available, many departments are not active

Patients coming to AIIMS emergency are being referred due to the absence of Coronary Care Unit, Neuro-Critical Care Unit, Pulmonary Critical Care Unit and Nephro Critical Care Unit. There is no answer as to when these facilities will start in AIIMS. Those in charge say that AIIMS administration has issued vacancies for these specialist posts many times, but doctors are not available. AIIMS media in-charge Dr. Arup Mohanty says that many types of super specialty services have not been started in AIIMS yet. Because of this, patients have to be referred.
