Amaravati: YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday stressed on the use of ballot papers instead of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in elections. After the crushing defeat in the recently held Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed that ballot papers are used in every advanced democracy.

The YSRCP supremo posted on the social media platform X, saying, "In almost every advanced democracy around the world, ballot papers are used in elections, not EVMs." He further said that to maintain the true spirit of our democracy, we should also move in the same direction. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, just as justice is not only done, but should also be seen. Similarly, democracy should not only be maintained, but should also be seen.

In the assembly elections held in Andhra Pradesh, YSRCP had to be satisfied with only 11 seats. At the same time, the party won only four seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The National Democratic Alliance won 164 of the 175 assembly seats in the state. In the Lok Sabha elections, the alliance won 21 out of 25 seats.
