Salman Khan arrives to pay last respects to Malaika Arora's father.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan visited Malaika Arora's house to offer his condolences after the tragic death of her father Anil Mehta, who allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday. Salman was seen getting out of his car amid tight security. Earlier in the day, Malaika's father was laid to rest at Mumbai's Santacruz Hindu crematorium, where people from the film industry also gathered to pay their tributes.

Malaika Arora arrived at the crematorium with her son Arhaan Khan. Several celebrities including Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and her husband Saif Ali Khan arrived at the crematorium to pay their last respects to Malaika Arora's father. Malaika Arora's ex-husband Arbaaz Khan also arrived at the crematorium with his wife Shubh Khan. Malaika's close friend and filmmaker Farah Khan Kunder also arrived to pay her tribute to Anil Mehta. She was accompanied by her brother Sajid Khan. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has recorded the statements of Malaika, her sister Amrita Arora and their mother. According to the police, Anil Mehta had called both his daughters before hanging up. In their statements, Malaika and Amrita said that their father had told them, "I am sick and tired." The family tried to contact him after the call, but Anil had already switched off his phone. Police further revealed that Anil Mehta jumped off the balcony of a building, fracturing his right leg.

The post-mortem report has confirmed that he died due to "multiple injuries". The police are also planning to record the statement of Mehta's doctor as well as other members of his close family. Earlier on Wednesday, Mumbai Police DCP Raj Tilak Roshan told the media that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem. He said that the police and forensic teams are investigating. "The body of a man named Anil Mehta (62) has been found. He lived on the 6th floor. We are investigating further and our team is here. We are investigating all aspects in detail. Our teams are here; forensic teams are also here. The body is being taken for post-mortem. We are investigating everything in detail. Prima facie, it looks like suicide; we are investigating further," Roshan said. Malaika Arora, who was not present at her father's house at the time of the incident, was reportedly in Pune at the time.
